Members

Over 1,000 individual members across the north of England are affiliated through local Camera Clubs to the Northern Counties Photographic Federation (NCPF), and in turn through the Federation to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).

We all share a passion for amateur photography. Some members are just starting out, while others have been members of Camera Clubs for over four decades well before the advent of digital cameras and computer editing software, using dark rooms to print their images.

Each Camera Club is different and offers a mix of services. These can include:

  • Speakers covering a wide variety of photographic techniques and topics.
  • Practical sessions, where photographers can try their hand at different genres of photography.
  • Competitions, both in-house and against other Camera Clubs.
  • Training events and special interest groups, from tips on editing software such as Lightroom and Photoshop, to mounting prints, to creating AVs of images to music.
  • Social events such as days out and dinners.

Camera Club members have a wealth of knowledge of photography and there is no question that hasn’t been asked before! New members are most welcome whatever your level of expertise and many Clubs offer ‘taster sessions’ where people can go along for a couple of evenings for a small fee before committing to becoming a member.

Most Club meetings take place over 2 hours on a weekday evening (days vary depending on the Club) and the Season is usually September-April, although a small number of Clubs continue to meet all year round. Please contact your local Club for further details.
