All six clubs of the South Tyne Area, Gateshead CC, Hexham & District PS, Ryton & District CC, South Shields PS, Whickham PC and Winlaton & District CC gathered at the New West End Social Club at Winlaton on Tuesday, 19th November 2024.
After much shuffling and shifting around to get a good vantage point, we were ready to begin the inter-club print competition, with many club members keeping an eye on the proceedings and updating the tally on their score sheets.
It certainly was a night to remember. Each club had submitted 10 prints with a mixture of mono and colour covering a wide range of subjects. Bill’s comments and suggestions for improvements were informative, and his positive critique showed the work that he had applied to the task at hand. There were some tense moments and then that silent pause whilst the scores were worked out – it was nail bitingly close.
| 1st | Winlaton & District CC | 264 points |
| 2nd | Hexham & District PS | 261 points |
| 3rd | Ryton & District CC | 259 points |
| 4th | Gateshead CC | 257 points |
| 5th | Whickham PC | 254 points |
| 6th | South Shields PS | 245 points |
Winlaton & District CC’s print ‘Eye on the Target’ by Gerry Adcock scored 30 points.

There was some new silverware to be presented in the form of ‘The Roy Elwood FRPS, MPAGB, APAGB, EFIAP South Tyne Print Salver’ and ‘The Roy Elwood FRPS, MPAGB, APAGB, EFIAP South Tyne Best Print Salver’.
Roy Elwood is 99 years old and has been a stalwart of Whickham PC for many years. We wish him well for his 100th birthday next year.
Winlaton & District CC have done the double. They won the print competition in 2023 and, yes, Gerry once again won the best print for 2024.

I would like to thank all clubs for their entries, Bill for judging and Roy for the presentation and allowing us the honour to bear his name on our print trophies.
And finally, our hosts Winlaton & District CC did a fantastic job on the night and made sure the evening was a success.
